Roborock unveiled two significant innovations at CES 2026 that demonstrate its larger plan to extend robotic automation beyond traditional indoor cleaning: a new generation of robot lawn mowers, spearheaded by the RockMow X1 series, and the experimental Saros Rover robot vacuum.
An important change from conventional robot vacuums is the Saros Rover. Rather than just using wheels, it also has two articulated legs that end in motorized wheels. Because of this design, the robot can navigate through obstacles like stairs, uneven floors, and even stairs that normally prevent robot vacuums from operating.

Demonstrations showed the Saros Rover cleaning and climbing stairs step by step while keeping one leg fixed on a lower step to maintain stability. As with self-balancing personal transportation devices, the system uses motion sensors, AI algorithms, and 3D spatial data to comprehend its environment and balance itself.
As it moves up and down stairs, the Saros Rover actively cleans them, in contrast to previous ideas that only moved robots between floors. Still in development, the model has no announced release date or pricing, underscoring its role as a forward-looking concept rather than a near-term consumer product.
Alongside its experimental Saros Rover, Roborock also highlighted advances in outdoor automation with the RockMow X1 LiDAR, its most advanced robot lawn mower to date. Designed for large and complex yards, the RockMow X1 LiDAR builds on Roborock’s all-wheel-drive platform, allowing it to handle slopes of up to 80% and roll over obstacles as high as 3.1 inches.
Its standout feature is a 360-degree LiDAR navigation system paired with dual cameras, enabling the mower to detect objects at distances of up to 230 feet and capture environmental data at a rate of 200,000 points per second. This sensor suite works in combination with VSLAM to create detailed maps of the lawn and remember efficient mowing paths over time.

The RockMow X1 LiDAR also supports 4G LTE connectivity, geofencing based on precise property boundaries, and future AI-powered mapping updates delivered via over-the-air software. Additional features include an integrated theft alarm, IPX6 water resistance for operation in wet conditions, and automatic rain detection that sends the mower back to its charging base when weather conditions worsen.
