Acer has introduced a new lineup of Android tablets at IFA 2025, combining OLED displays with affordable pricing, but also making unusual choices in chipsets. The new devices, the Iconia X12 and Iconia X14, aim to balance design, performance, and value, starting at $320.
Both tablets feature AMOLED displays, with the X12 offering a 12.6-inch screen at 2560×1600 resolution, and the X14 equipped with a 14-inch panel at 1920×1200 resolution. Each model supports up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, microSD expansion, and runs on Android 15. Both also include 8,000 mAh batteries and will support keyboard and stylus accessories, underscoring Acer’s positioning of these devices as suitable for both productivity and entertainment.
Acer Iconia X12 Tablet
The most conventional of the pair, the Iconia X12, uses a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. This 6nm processor, released in 2022, has been used widely in mid-range devices. While not cutting-edge, it is considered capable enough for typical tasks, though its age raises concerns about long-term software update support. Acer estimates the X12 will achieve up to 16 hours of battery life, highlighting a relatively efficient design for its class.

Acer Iconia X14 Tablet
In contrast, the Iconia X14 uses an Allwinner A733 chipset that was released in 2024, based on a 12nm manufacturing process, which is less power-efficient than modern alternatives. That was a curious choice, since Allwinner chips are more commonly found in TVs and low-cost devices rather than mainstream tablets.
In terms of battery life, Acer projects 10 hours for the X14, compared to 16 hours for the smaller X12. Acer highlights that the chipset includes an NPU to support AI-related tasks, but the trade-offs in efficiency may limit its broader appeal.
The Iconia X12 and X14 are scheduled to launch in North America, Europe, and other markets in November 2025, priced at $320 and $340, respectively. In addition to these OLED-based models, Acer will release two new Iconia A series tablets using the same Allwinner A733 chipset but featuring IPS displays instead of OLED, in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes.
