In 2026, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring turns a whopping 25 years old. And to celebrate the milestone, it and its two sequels are getting their extended editions back on the big screen.
Fathom Events and Warner Bros. are teaming to put the blockbuster trilogy in theaters next month for two weekends, with each installment getting DBOX showings on the first weekend. All three will get two days to themselves: Fellowship on Fridays January 16 and 23, The Two Towers on Saturdays January 17 and 24, and finally Return of the King on Sundays January 18 and 25. And for those who watch these at AMC theaters, there’ll be a limited-edition collectible Map Tin and a Quest Magnet Set, while Regal and indie theater attendees get their own merch to take home.
Each extended installment of the Rings trilogy will be a long one—Fellowship and Towers are just shy of three hours, and King is three hours and 21 minutes—but for those who’ve watched these at home over the years, they’re used to it. Whether you grew up with the films or came in late, it should be fun to revisit three of the biggest blockbusters of modern Hollywood…then remember Warner Bros. and possibly Netflix will undermine them (again) with a Gollum movie.
Go on ahead and buy your Lord of the Rings tickets here.
